Area vs perimeter

Perimeter is a length — you add side lengths (or multiply for a square). Area counts square units inside a region: rectangles use length × width, right triangles use ½ × base × height with the two legs forming the right angle. This worksheet keeps units on the drawing so students connect the formula to the picture.

Triangles on the sheet

Right triangles use scaled 3–4–5 triples (3-4-5 or 6-8-10) so side lengths are integers and perimeter is a whole number. Encourage checking the longest side against the hypotenuse relationship before adding.
